RVP Message - Spring 2024

Hello Region VII Members

Can you believe it, we are just a little over a month away from our Region VII HUB Conference in Scottsdale AZ, and there is a lot going on in preparation. If you haven’t already registered, there is still plenty of time and we hope that you will #PleaseJoinUs in Scottsdale. Registration for the HUB is only $125, and it will include a grab-n-go hot breakfast in our Hospitality Suite and group lunch with all HUB participants.

During the business session along with our CWC competition, you will hear from IAIP Vice President Lisa Hardin, and I will provide an update on all things IAIP (aka the RVP report). We will also present one of the new ACR Designation Courses.

Please join us on Thursday May 9th at 7 pm PDT for our next Cactus Chat, in addition to our regular updates, I’ll be providing members with some very special details about our Regional HUB event and IAIP Convention! You will hear all the things you need to “Know Before You Go” to Scottsdale!

At our April Cactus Chat, I offered a challenge to our members to join me in supporting the Legacy Foundation Regional Fundraising Challenge – by offering a match (up to $20 each) to the first 20 members who contributed to the Legacy foundation (minimum of $20). We are almost there, so please reach out if you donated so I can provide the matching funds. I will extend the challenge thru May 9th.  Thank you to all the members who have already donated. The Legacy Foundation is a great way to invest in yourself and the association.

Please check out this link to our Region VII website https://iaipregion7.org/ - Marketing Director Regina Lemanowicz has added updates that include all of our reports from Regional Directors, a list of our newest members and also those members who have obtained a new Designation. You will also find a ton of other useful information about Awards, Scholarships, Grants and other important IAIP information.  It’s like one stop shopping with links to the international page as well.

I’d love to hear what our members are doing to celebrate IAIP Week which starts Sunday May 19th.  If you and your local association or council are doing something special to commemorate IAIP Week, share it on the IAIP Feed and on our social media pages.  Get the word out!

I hope to see you soon in Scottsdale! Consider this your personal invitation – in case that is what you were waiting for!   Please join us!

In fellowship,
Terri Brennan – Region VII Vice President

RVP Message - January 2024

Hello Region VII Members!

I hope everyone was able to spend some time over the holidays relaxing with family and friends.

What IAIP Goals have you set for yourself for 2024? Apply for an Award? Teach a Class? Write a Blog? Obtain a Designation? That is one of mine - finish my CLP Designation, I’m almost there!!

I can’t believe it’s February already. That means there are only 4 months until we meet together in Scottsdale Arizona for our Regional Hub Conference on Thursday June 6 th and International Convention June 7-9 th . Registration is now OPEN for the Hub and Convention. https://iaipconvention.com/ I am hoping for RECORD ATTENDANCE from our members. Pricing for Regional Hub is $125. Hub Co-Chairs are Christine Chandler Tillett and Mitula Patel. Look for updates from them at the next Cactus Chat.

 We all love the competition of our Legacy Foundations Fundraising Contest. This year we will “Drive to the Pin”. Our regional goal is $4,860. (calculated on $20 per member). I know there have been many members and associations who have benefited from Legacy Grants and Scholarships. This is how we make that happen. Please consider donating today. Contest will run through June 7 th at 5 pm. Let’s be the first region to hit that Hole in One!

 There are special IAIP Branded items available on the IAIP Marketplace just for the 2024 Convention. Deadline to order convention items is May 10 th but other items are available year-round.

 Our 2024 Membership Drive is going strong. There are some amazing prizes. It runs from July 1, 2023 until May 31, 2024. Click here to Find out more.

 Did you know that IAIP has a YouTube Channel? If you haven’t already, you should really check it out! https://www.youtube.com/@TheInsurancePros/videos

RVP Message - November 2023

Hello Region VII Members!

Happy Fall… I’m so happy to see the weather changing (cooling off) and anxious to watch some leaves change colors, this was a tough summer here in AZ and I’m not sad for it to be done. Please don’t forget to adjust your clocks as we “Fall Back” on Nov 5 th - for all but AZ & HI of course.

We had an amazing CA Council Meeting in Fres-Yes! Thank you to Insurance Associates of Fresno for hosting, and congrats to CA Council Director-Elect Jody Nishida.

There are so many important dates coming up in the next couple months.

November has Award application deadlines and Tax forms that must be completed (990N’s); December CWC applications are due; January 15 th the last Legacy Foundation Scholarship opportunity before Convention will be due.

Don’t forget to check out the new IAIP Membership Contest with awesome prizes (be sure referrals put your name on their application for you to get credit). PLEASE – check the IAIP website for the all the latest member news and information.

Are you active on the IAIP Online Community? There are so much to read about or participate in – if you don’t login on a regular basis you are probably missing a lot of great info, tools, and tips.

Start thinking about our Regional Hub Conference – which will be held in Scottsdale AZ on Thursday June 6 th – followed immediately by the International Convention. Registration will open up after the first of the year, but now is the time to start planning your next IAIP adventure!

As we look forward to the upcoming holiday seasons, let’s each try to find a special way to express your thankfulness and gratitude to our family, friends, associates, and our IAIP community.

Terri Brennan, Region VII RVP

RVP Message - July 2023

Hello Region VII,

I am so excited to start my term as your new RVP. But first, I need to stop and thank Christine Chandler Tillett for her service, for being such a great leader and mentor to all of us, and for her passion for IAIP and Region VII. These are some tough shoes I have to fill, I hope I’m able to do it justice.

During her term, Christine asked us to LEAD and “Be the Change” - I want us to keep moving forward and continue that journey so that we can “Make Change a Reality”.

To Make Change a Reality – we need to L.E.A.R.N.

Lead – be a leader and shine some light on the IAIP path. Remember you don’t need to be in the spotlight to lead… that behind-the-scenes work is invaluable to our success. Help organize a class, a community service project, or a networking get together (in-person or virtual).

Engage – don’t wait for someone to ask you to help or serve - be engaged…and stay engaged. It’s so much easier to be involved when you’re doing something you really care about. What is your passion? Have you told anyone? Have you applied for an award? A scholarship or Grant? Have you taken CWC? Obtained a designation? There are so many opportunities. Be engaged and use your membership benefits.

Act share your ideas, step up when opportunities arise, ask questions, suggest something new. We don’t have to continue to do something just because we’ve always done it that way. Let your actions speak for you!

Recruit – Who is our next potential member… do you just need to ask someone if they would consider joining IAIP. Explain to them why you belong and how many benefits there are just by being a member. Is it a Co-worker? Your employer? Or is it a former IAIP member that is just waiting for someone to reach out and ask them to come back?

Network – when you meet colleagues, do you tell them about IAIP and why you’re a member or how the association provided tools that allowed you to reach the next step in your career journey? Try it, it’s not as hard as you might think!! We need to attract new people and increase our membership so that we can remain a viable association.

Congratulations to our members who have obtained a New Designation:

Steve Peterson, CPCU, CLP
Karl Susman, CPCU, CIC, CLP

CLP-A
Marcella Reynolds Beasley, MA, CIC, CISR, AIS, ACSR, AINS, CRIS, MLIS, TRIP, AFIS, CCIP, CLIC, WCIP, CIIP, CLP-A, DAE
