Happy New Year! Please find an update of the events and achievements of the Honolulu Association of Insurance Professionals/ HAWAII COUNCIL during the second quarter of this year (Oct – Dec 2023):
1. Membership Growth: Since July 2023, we are down 3 members overall. Current roster is 57 members. We continue to look and implement initiatives that attract professionals passionate about advancing the insurance industry in our region.
2. Education: Our October meeting was with the American Red Cross; November was our State of HI Council meeting (with you!) and December we hosted Jason Popejoy of DTRIC to speak about Child Trafficking In Our Community.
3. Community Outreach: Our team actively participated in The Walk to End Alzheimer’s (raised $4,100), cleared invasive species at Waimea Valley Park in the annual Make A Difference Day, hosted a Blood Bank Drive during September – December, and participated in the Hawaiian Humane Society Pet Walk!
4. Networking: Q2 saw the successful execution of the Inaugural Insurance Idol 2023 event to raise money for Maui O’hana. I don’t have a final amount raised yet but there were ~125 people in attendance and a lot of fun!
5. Upcoming Projects: CE classes have resumed this month (Jan 2024) from HAIP since the loss of our Education Chair. I have stepped in with the help of Leslie Door and Chenise Blalock to fill our calendar and invite other industry association partners in the community to maximize our footprint.
