HAIP PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Aloha Region VII Members,
Hawaii Council of IAIP – Summer 2025 Update
What a year it’s been! As we close out the 2024–2025 term, I’m so proud to look back and celebrate everything our Hawaii Council has accomplished together.
We ended the year with 59 members and 31 corporate partners, which is an incredible show of support and engagement. Mahalo to everyone who helped us grow, stayed involved, and made our events and initiatives meaningful.
Recognized Across Hawai‘i
During Insurance Professionals Week (May 19–23), we received official proclamations from both Governor Josh Green and Mayor Rick Blangiardi, recognizing the week statewide and in Honolulu. These proclamations honored the work of the Honolulu Association of Insurance Professionals (HAIP) and the positive impact our members have made through service, education, and advocacy. It was an amazing moment of recognition for the care we put into helping our communities protect what matters most.
We Took Home the Gold at Convention
At the 2025 IAIP International Convention in Oklahoma City (June 19–22), Hawaii members brought home some of the top awards of the year! Big congratulations to:
• Leslie Door
- Region VII Insurance Professional of the Year
- IAIP Insurance Professional of the Year
• Mark Coberly
- Region VII Risk Management Professional of the Year
- Region VII Claims Professional of the Year
- IAIP Claims Professional of the Year
Leslie shared this heartfelt message: I’m incredibly humbled to have won the IAIP Insurance Professional of the Year for 2025. Receiving this recognition from such a respected organization and among so many talented, passionate professionals is truly an honor. This award reflects more than just an individual achievement; it reflects the mentorship, collaboration, and support I’ve been fortunate to experience throughout my insurance journey. To my IAIP ohana, colleagues and mentors, thank you for empowering me, challenging me, and inspiring me to grow in this industry and organization I care so deeply about.
Learning and Growing
We also want to give a big shoutout to our members who achieved IAIP education milestones this year. These accomplishments reflect hours of dedication and a commitment to being the best at what we do.
Congratulations to:
• Tracy Adams • Linda Ipsen • Martha Nobriga • Chuck Mizumoto • Marian Nakashima • Shari Lau • Leslie Door
Local Standouts
This year’s local awards go to two members who went above and beyond:
• Chuck Mizumoto – Member of the Year
• Michael Cofran – Rookie of the Year
Thank you both for bringing such enthusiasm and dedication to our organization. We appreciate you!
Partnering for Impact
We’re also thrilled to recognize Finance Insurance as our 2024–2025 HAIP Corporate Partner of the Year. Their support helped push us forward, made our initiatives more impactful, and honestly, made everything a lot more fun too. We’re so grateful for their partnership.
During IAIP Week, our chapter also led a multi-state virtual CE course that welcomed over 100 participants from across the country. It was a great example of how we continue to share knowledge and elevate professionalism beyond our local borders.
At the end of June, our new board was officially sworn in. They;ve hit the ground running and have already been working closely with our seasoned association veterans who are offering their support, guidance, and encouragement. It’s shaping up to be another fantastic year ahead.
The next quarter will serve as the launchpad for the upcoming year. Our association has set ambitious goals to grow both membership and corporate partnerships. More importantly, we’re focused on deepening member engagement by emphasizing the core value we offer in areas like education, fellowship, networking, and mentorship. I'm looking forward to a year of meaningful growth, not just for the association as a whole, but for each of our members — both personally and professionally.
Mahalo,
